Foothills Boulevard in Roseville should be renamed as "Sandwich Boulevard" as there are ten or more sandwich shops that inhabit a mile and a half of the boulevard. All sandwiches are good, so what sets one sandwich place apart from the shop across the street? I wish I had the answer to that question, but all I know is that Sourdough and Company makes an outstanding sandwich. Their sandwich especially stands out because of the fresh, in-house, baked sourdough roll. As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: Sourdough and Company is a small chain of four restaurants, located in the greater Sacramento area. On this early afternoon, Friday, December 30, 2016, we're ready to enjoy the Roseville location, which has been open for several months, but today is our first opportunity to visit, and enjoy a great lunch. If you care to enjoy outdoor dining, there is exactly one table outside of the restaurant. Photo: It's early afternoon, just after the noon hour, and the restaurant is packed with hungry diners. Photo is taken as soon as you walk in the door, which gives a great idea of what the restaurant is all about. Photo: We chose to hit the restaurant, shortly after noon, which I assume is the busiest time of the day. We were treated to watching all of the crew in action. The menu is posted on the wall, behind the counter. It's "old school" and you simply choose a "number." Today, my wife and I both chose #7, which is what the menu calls a "Rueben." Photo: Meet friendly Vivian, who prepared our sandwiches, and presented them to me, with a smile on her face. Photo: I hold the sandwiches for our lunch. My sandwich is on my right, which has "everything," while my wife's is on my left, which lacks onions. Excuse me if I have onion breath... Just don't try to kiss me! Photo: My wife and I both ordered identical sandwiches, #7 from the menu, which was called the Reuben. I ordered my sandwich with "everything," and she ordered her sandwich sans onions. The sandwich was simply delicious! The sourdough bread was fresh, amazing, and baked in-house. I absolutely loved this sandwich, and I'll order another one, during my next visit. However, this is not a true "Rueben" sandwich, as the only true "reuben" ingredient is the corned beef. However, just for the sake of a name, I won't pick nits, so I'll just say that I enjoyed my lunch at Sourdough & Company, and I'll be back again... Such a great sandwich! Great food, friendly people, and a fun place to enjoy a meal. Look to Sourdough and Company for a great meal, a great sandwich, and good times.
