Granite's menu reads, "Granite's Subs, Wings and Burgers... the BEST Wings and Cheesteaks in town."  I can't vouch for the wings or cheesestake, but I CAN vouch that Granite's Famous Cheesesteak and Wings makes an outstanding burger and fries, the staff is super friendly, and the beer is cold.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's just a little past 2 in the afternoon, Monday, June 03, 2019, and I'm ready to enjoy lunch today at Granite's, located on Foothills Blvd., in west Roseville.  This fine restaurant took over from the former P&A Deli, and began to serve delicious "pub" cuisine back in January, 2018.  It's early June, over a year later, and I'm just getting around to paying a visit for the first time!

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the counter, where there are two stations, an order and a pick-up station.  You place your order and pay for it at the "Order" station, and when it's ready, your name will be called and you get it at the "Pick Up" area.  You simply sit wherever you want to, as the dining at atmosphere is very casual.  I love the gum ball machine that greets you as you enter the restaurant.

Don't look for a menu above the counter, as there isn't one.  The menu is on the counter at the "Order" station, and there are plenty of printed menus for you to take home.  Or, look at their web site.  Granite's does a brisk take-out business.

The window to the left of the counter is the window to the kitchen, where you can watch chef Jeff Granite prepare your meal.  There is a well-stocked selection of condiments on the table, in front of the kitchen window.

If this looks a bit familiar, you may the restaurant from when it was under different ownership, and a completely different format, and known as P&A Deli.  Click on this link to review my visit to P&A Deli, back in late October, 2015.

Photo:  The dining room is quite compact, and features a mixture of tables and booths, with a couple old-school pinball machines to the rear, and a few television  monitors for entertainment.  The atmosphere is casual, fun and friendly!

Photo:  There are many vintage posters and photos decorating the walls.

Photo:  The menu features subs, burgers, dogs, salads, sides, cheesesteaks and even fish and chips.  I can say that this menu features some of my favorite food, and I can anticipate working through the menu, and enjoying every selection, as time permits.

Since the words "famous cheesesteaks" are up front-and-center, perhaps I should have started with a cheesesteak? Or, perhaps the fish and chips?  Who knows... as everything on the menu looks simply amazing!  But, I decided to "begin at the begin" so I went with a hamburger and fries.

Photo:  Meet Kathy, the cheerful person working the counter today, who took my order and poured my Sierra Nevada "Pale Ale" for me, with a smile.  Granite's features for varieties of beer on tap, and bottled beer in a grab-it-yourself cooler near the order counter.

Photo:  I took a peek into the kitchen and saw chef Jeff at work cooking my burger, as he and Kathy discuss my order.  Note the bun toasting on the griddle which adds a great touch to a hamburger.

Photo:  The condiment selection is located on a table, in front of the kitchen window.  You can garnish your meal here, or grab your favorite condiment and apply it at your table.  Because I wanted to really taste my hamburger, I only added a little mustard, but I did take a bottle of ketchup for my fries, as ketchup brings out the "kid" in me.

Photo:  Meet Mr. Jeff Granite, the chef, and owner of the restaurant.  Jeff cooked a perfect hamburger and fries for my lunch today!  Not only is Jeff a great chef, but he's also a great guy.

Jeff created my meal in his mostly open kitchen, and it was delivered to the "Pick up" counter in only about ten minutes after placing my order. That's fast service!

Photo:  Thanks, Jeff, for taking my photo as I get ready to enjoy my Hamburger and Fries, which is "#22" on the menu.

Photo:  Since today was my first visit to Granite's Famous Cheesesteak and Wings, I reasoned that a burger, and a side of fries would be a great place to begin.  This is the "Hamburger," also known as #22 on the menu, along with an optional side of French Fries.  I did tip the bun back a little bit in order to enhance the photo, and show more of the goodness the bun was partially hiding.

As he prepared my order, I chatted with the chef, and owner of the restaurant, Jeff Granite, and he told me the burger patty is top sirloin, containing less than 10% fat, so you get a lot of meat!  He didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked, and it arrived medium, which is just right with me.  Jeff really knows how to cook a great burger, as the burger was juicy, tender, and cooked just right, to perfection.

The meat sits on a large, fresh, toasted bun, and is garnished with just enough "Thousand Island" dressing to add a little taste and smoothness.  The burger is garnished with shredded lettuce, tomato slices and red onion.  All garnishes are fresh, and really work together to enhance this delicious burger.  No other condiments are placed on the burger, but, as seen in the previous photo, there is a wide selection so you can customize your burger to your taste.

This is an "old school" burger, big, juicy, and just the way a burger should be made.  The hamburger was simply fantastic!

The side of fries are optional, and ordered separate from the "Side Orders" section of the menu.  The fries were perfectly cooked to a golden brown on the outside, and chewy-tender inside, just the way a fry is supposed to be. Unlike other restaurants, the fries were not greasy, and not excessively salty, but, naturally, fries need at least a little salt.  Such a great side of French Fries at Granite's!

I did the right thing by starting with a basic hamburger, along with an order of fries.  The burger and fries worked together, and made a delicious lunch that kept me well-satisfied until dinner.

Granite's is a great place to just "hang out at," enjoy a burger, fries, a beer, or anything on their menu.  You'll love the food, the casual atmosphere, and you'll love the friendly staff.  I am definitely a fan of Granite's  Famous Cheesesteak and Wings!
