What comes to your mind when you think of a "Great Western Sausage?  Think of Juicy's LLC at Cal Expo, the California State Fair.

Photo:  You can't miss Juicy's LLC, as they're located next to the bungee jumping place.  If you were blind, you could still locate them by homing in on the fragrant scent of oak, which they use to smoke their turkey legs, and other fine products.

Photo:  A smoked turkey leg sounded delicious, but how would I resist a "Giant Western Sausage?"  That's the point, as I couldn't.... Photo shows cashier ringing up a good-looking patron, and shows much of the menu offerings, which is pretty typical of state fair cuisine, with the exception of what I was to enjoy.

Photo:  The well-equipped condiment station offers ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, along with diced jalapeņo pepper slices, onions and pickles.  Today, I opted to exclude the jalapeņo slices, as it was 103 degrees, and I didn't need any more heat.

Photo:  This is what you get for $10.25:  A grilled, foot-long, inch-plus thing sausage, served on a soft, chewy bun that matches the dimensions of the sausage.  True to advertising, you get grilled onion and pepper.  Today, the only condiment I added was the mustard, as I didn't want to dilute the flavor of this delicious sausage.  Yes, it's a tad on the pricey side, like all food at the fair, but it's worth every penny of the hefty price.

Yeah, it's HUGE, messy, delicious, and if you're a lover of Texas-sized grilled hot dots, the "Great Western Sausage" at Juicy's LLC should be on your things-to-do-list at the California State Fair.
