If you're a regular reader of this web site, you've probably followed the adventures of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, which a losely-knit group of friends who meet for breakfast at a different Sacramento-area restaurant every other Friday morning.  Just the other day, we enjoyed a breakfast meeting at Chewy's, and my wife and I were so impressed that we decided to nominate them as a candidate for Dishin' With Tina, on the local Sacramento news/magazine television show, Good Day Sacramento.  Yes, we "dished" with Tina at Chewy's, and enjoyed wonderful food, a great time, and got a chance to be on local television.

Photo:  At 11:00 on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, we arrived to a mostly-empty parking lot at Chewy's.  We love their motto:  "Lots of food.  Always fresh.  So true!

Photo:   Good Day Sacramento was running slightly late, so Sharlene and I seated ourselves at a booth in the main dining room, and were treated to the friendly hospitality of the owner, Mr. Jesus Chavez.  The previous Friday, we had enjoyed breakfast at Chewy's with the Sacramento Breakfast Club - click on this link to review the meeting - and we were impressed with the friendly hospitality we enjoyed, particularly the warm welcome from the owner, Jesus, and the amazingly-delicious food offered by Chewy's.  On the way home from breakfast, Sharlene suggested that I nominate Chewy's for a candidate for "Dishin' With Tina," which sounded like a great idea, as Chewy's meets all of the criteria of the restaurants that Good Day Sacramento embraces.  After I published our breakfast article on this web site, and Facebook, I sent Tina an email, and after a couple of emails, we agreed to meet at Chewy's to record the "Dishin' With Tina" episode at Chewy's, to be aired Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Photo:  While we were waiting for the crew from Good Day Sacramento to arrive, Jesus and his daughter graciously offered to provide us with a place of chicken quesadillas, chips and two varieties of salsa for dipping.  Jesus, who is the friendliest guy in town, thanked me many times for inviting Good Day Sacramento into his restaurant, and provided Sharlene and I with carte blanche treatment.  Jesus, my friend, the pleasure is all mine!

Photo:  Chicken quesadilla, chips, two varieties of salsa for dipping, and a bowl of ranch dressing on the side.  Oh yeah!  Delicious!

Photo:  Jesus demonstrates to camera guy Dave Grassoff, and reporter Tina Machua, of Good Day Sacramento, how he makes his delicious in-house-made flour tortillas.  Dave takes the photos, and Tina narrates, which will be used on the Good Day Sacramento morning show in a couple of weeks from today.  During my previous visit, Jesus was happy to demonstrate me how his tortillas are made, click on here to see how they are made.

Photo:  Jesus's daughter seems nonplussed as she rings up a customer, as Dave and Tina photograph her father in the kitchen, demonstrating how he makes flour tortillas.

Photo:  Dave and Tina discuss photography tactics before they surprise, and interview Sharlene, who sits at the table, quite unaware of what is going to happen.

Photo:  Sharlene ordered a BLT Sandwich, and I ordered a Chewy's Guacamole Burger, and in the usual protocol for Good Day Sacramento broadcasts, Tina suggested they prepare additional items, so viewers can see the wide variety of food they offer.  "My order" of Chewy's Guacamole Burger, along with onion rings, is actually being delivered to Tina, while Tina's order of a California Cheese Burger, has been placed where I'm sitting.  When you're being photo'd to do a segment on a popular Sacramento television morning show, things can get hectic, so it's understandable there was a small mix-up.  Tina and I simply exchanged plates, and all was well and wonderful in the world of Chewy's and Good Day Sacramento.

Photo:  Beast, and two beauties... Left to right, Tina Machua, Good Day Sacramento host and reporter, your author, Eric Rench, and my beautiful wife, Sharlene Rench.  Thanks, Dave Grasso, Good Day Sacramento photographer, for taking this photo.

Photo:  There are few things in life that I love more than a good burger, and Chewy's knows how to produce a delicious burger.  Today, I ordered the "Chewy's Guacamole Burger."  The menu describes the burger as "Pepper jack cheese and homemade guacamole."  Alright, that's to the, as the menu describes their burgers, as "1/3 lb. Angus beef patties, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, many on a fresh bun."  My order included the optional onion rings... What a burger!  It was perfect, including the ample amount of creamy guacamole, the melted cheese, fresh veggies, and a burger patty, cooked perfectly.  I might add the bun was large, fresh, and toasted, yet it was chewy - no pun intended, lol - fresh, and absolutely wonderful.  This burger was so good that I forgot to add mustard to the burger, or ketchup to the onion rings.  If you love a good burger, all I can say is to "Go for it!"  As I mentioned, the onion rings are a $2.00 option, but well worth the price, as they're delicious!

Photo:  Tina ordered the "California Cheese Burger," which, includes a 1/3 pound Angus burger patty, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mayo, and a fresh bun.  To make the "California Cheese Burger" special, it includes sliced avocado, bacon, and Monterey cheese. I didn't get the chance to ask Tina how she liked her burger, but it certainly looks delicious....

Photo:  Even though it was lunch time, Chef Sammy cooked a "Meat Lovers Cazuela" to show the viewing audience of Good Day Sacramento.  What is a cazuela, and what, specifically, is the meat lover's variety?  The menu describes a Breakfast Cazuela as, "That's the Mexican meaning of how cooking is done!  Using a pan, mixing all ingredients, and piling them up on a bed of potatoes.  Topped with two eggs, any style, toast or homemade flour tortillas."  Ok, that's a cazuela, so what is a "Meat Lover's Cazuela?"  The menu says, "Bacon, sausage, ham, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and Cheddar cheese."  After eating my burger, I was too full to sample this, but it certainly looks heavenly...

Photo:  From the "Cold Sandwiches and Soup" menu, Sharlene ordered a "BLT Sandwich."  The menu states, "All our sandwiches are made from fresh bread.  They come with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise.  Bread choices:  White, wheat, sourdough, sweet roll, or rye." BLT includes bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.  Sharlene loved the sandwich, as the bread, and the lettuce and tomato were fresh, the bacon was perfectly cooked, and the sandwich was delicious.

Chewy's certainly deserves the spotlight that Good Day Sacramento provides, as their food is delicious, it's fresh, there is a lot of it, and the staff, and the owner in particular, Jesus Chavez, is amazing friendly, and eager to please!  Chewy's is a wonderful restaurant, and a great place to enjoy friendly people, and superior food.  After enjoying a fabulous meal at Chewy's, your day, will turn out to be a "Good Day, Sacramento..."
