Today I had a meeting to attend at the California State Capitol, and as usual, I arrived in downtown Sacramento over two hours before the meeting started.  What to do for for nearly two hours?  Enjoy breakfast at Capitol Garage!

As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  Capitol Garage restaurant is actually incorporated into a parking garage, so you won't have difficulty finding a place to park, but you may have difficulty with the price of parking.  As its lighted, the garage makes an impressive sight on the pre-dawn Tuesday morning, April 04, 2017.

Photo:  The entrance to the restaurant, faces the corner of 15th and "K" streets, in downtown Sacramento.  The restaurant features outdoor dining, under huge shade trees, which is pleasant during the hot Sacramento summers. The section of the restaurant to the right of the photo is completely open to the street, which makes for great people watching as you enjoy a wonderful meal.

Photo:  It's a little over 06:30 on this early Tuesday morning, and I have the restaurant to myself.  Sara D., my friendly server, tends to the computer screen, as I snap the empty restaurant.  That changed around 0730, as I was leaving, as the restaurant started to get busy.  Note the full-service bar.  Capitol Garage would be a fun place to enjoy an afternoon cocktail or a beer.

Photo:  The breakfast menu is very small... where's the biscuits and gravy?  Capitol Garage's menu features many gluten free, vegan and vegetarian choices, to cater to the somewhat "yuppie" core-base of customers.  No worries on my part, as I headed to the omelet section of the menu.

Photo:  The wall facing 15th street is rolled up, and allows a great view of the street.  I love the long table facing the street; what a great idea!  While you're waiting for your order to arrive, you're treated to 1970's and 1980's pop oldies.

Photo:  It's a little past seven in the morning, and the restaurant is beginning to come to life.  The gal to the right of the photo is making a purchase from the pastry counter, where they have a small selection of pastries for sale. Note the automotive decor.

Photo:  My charming server, Sara D., brings my breakfast to me, only about 15 minutes after placing my order.  In the meantime, I was treated to endless cups of some of the best coffee downtown Sacramento has to offer.

Photo:  Thanks, Sara D. for snapping my photo, as I prepare to dig in to this delicious omelet.

Photo:  As I previously mentioned, I "zeroed" in on the omelet section of the breakfast menu, as nothing else really appealed to me.  All omelets are three egg, and you have your choice of meat, variety of cheese, and your choice of a vegetable item, from the list of choices.  Pulled pork really sounded good to me, but in the end, I went for chorizo, jack cheese, and pasilla peppers.  Can you say Mexican?  The breakfast is served with house potatoes, and you get to choose between white, wheat or sourdough for your toast.  That was an easy choice for me, as I always choose sourdough.  The price of the breakfast was $14.00 plus tax, but if that seems on the high side, consider that endless cups of some of the best coffee downtown Sacramento has to offer is included with the meal.  The atmosphere and ambiance is priceless.

The first thing I noticed, as I plowed into this omelet is that THEY DO NOT SKIMP ON THE CHORIZO OR THE CHEESE, as there is LOTS of it!  There is a serious amount of meat and cheese in this wonderful omelet!  It's delicious!  The potatoes were cooked perfectly, but I could have used some ketchup, but somehow I just didn't bother asking Sara for a bottle.  What can I say about the sourdough toast, except it was great?  Such a great breakfast at Capitol Garage!

The atmosphere alone is worth the price of admission, but when you factor in the delicious food, friendly staff, and great service... all of that comes together to make a great restaurant... Capitol Garage.
