What happens when you combine model trains, railroad memorabilia and good food?  What you get is The Train Depot, a fine restaurant, located in Fresno, CA.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's about 8 o'clock on Monday morning, October 22, 2018, and we've arrived at The Train Depot to enjoy a great breakfast, in a dining room that features a railroad theme.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice a blackboard with the daily specials, and lots of model trains and railroad memorabilia.  The Train Depot is serious about breakfast, as they're open for breakfast and lunch only.

Photo:  Another view of the dining room.  The "Ticket Agent" booth is actually area where utensils, napkins and condiment bottles are stored, and also sports the cash register. Note the many model trains.

Photo:  The breakfast menu features everything a breakfast lover could home for.

Photo:  Our friendly server, Emily, takes Michael's breakfast order.

Photo:  After we'd placed our orders, I had time to wander around the restaurant, and admire the many railroad models.  This model of a White Pass & Yukon 10-wheeler is in the massive "G" scale, which is really meant to run outside, as you'd have to have a gigantic room if you wanted to model in that scale.  I've always liked model railroads and railroads in general, so I fit right in.

Photo:  The famous Van Ness Avenue arch, which is actually located on South Van Ness Avenue, and used to mark the southern border of Fresno.  This is just one of many historic photos of Fresno that adorn the walls.

Photo:  The Train Depot features a small counter at the rear of the restaurant, where you can watch the hard-working staff in action.  The window to the kitchen is clearly visible and features an order wheel.  This fine restaurant is definitely "old school."

Photo:  Our friendly server, Emily, brings our breakfast to our table in only one trip!  Michael smiles, as he knows he's in for a breakfast treat.  Our orders arrived in about 15 minutes after we placed our orders, which is very fast. As seen in the photo, or orders arrived with a smile.

Photo:  Thanks, Emily, for taking our photo as we prepare to enjoy breakfast.  Left to right, my brother, Michael, brother-in-law Greg, and yours truly.

Photo:  I ordered from the "German Sausage/Two Egg" combo from the "Breakfast Combinations" menu, which seemed like the perfect way to start the day.  The Trail Depot is serious about breakfast, as breakfast is served any time the restaurant is open.

My breakfast featured two large German sausage links, cooked perfectly, two eggs over easy - my de facto standard - hash browns, (cottage fries are available,) along with biscuit and gravy, instead of toast.  Such a delicious breakfast!

The food is delicious, the service is efficient and friendly, and if you like model trains, and railroads, the atmosphere is priceless.  For a great breakfast or lunch, with a railroad flair, head over to The Train Depot, located in beautiful Fresno.  The restaurant will definitely blow your whistle...
