Back in 1995, when my work transferred me from Fresno to Sacramento, I worked the graveyard shift, and every month or so, when we'd get off work at 0800, a group of us would meet for breakfast at Walt's, which was conveniently located next to the union hall.  Time moves on, and by the mid-2000's, Walt's was history, and Country Waffles had taken over the restaurant.  Fast forward to today, Friday, March 16, 2012, the restaurant is now Flapjack's!  Quite a legacy...

Photo:  Flapjacks, on this rainy Friday morning, March 16, 2012.  The rain seems to highlight the lights, which makes for a good photo.  It also makes for a good breakfast!!

Photo:  Flapjack's is a hangout for the locals, and features a large, and comfortable breakfast counter.  This is the view of the restaurant as you walk in the front door.  You could categorize Flapjack's as a typical Sacramento diner, which gives the restaurant a gold star in the eyes of the Sacramento Breakfast Club.

Photo:  Another view as you enter the restaurant, of the breakfast counter and the kitchen to the right, and the booths to the left.  If you like booths, Flapjack's features mostly booths, but we chose a table at the rear of the restaurant to accommodate today's large group.

As our server, Jennifer, explained to us, Flapjacks came to life in November, 2011, as the owners of the restaurant wanted to expand and tweek the menu, and the holder of the franchise, Country Waffles, objected.  So the restaurant owner dropped the franchise, dropped the name, spruced up the dining room a bit, and today's Flapjack's arose from the ashes of Country Waffles.

Photo:  Our friendly server, Jennifer, brings Sean's order of flapjacks, and a lot more, to our table.

Photo:  I asked Sean to show his order of pancakes and eggs, or are they "flapjacks" and eggs?  and he responded to my digigal camera as only Sean can respond... with a gigantic smile!  This guy loves breakfast!

Photo  I was feeling "vegetarian," so I ordered a plate of biscuits and gravy, hash brown potatoes, two eggs over easy, and an endless, bottomless of Flapjack's outstanding coffee.  This breakfast was great!  Flapjack's is a great place to enjoy breakfast...

Flapjack's is open for breakfast and lunch, so you know they put their heart and soul into breakfast.  Yes they do! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, great service, at a unique restaurant that caters to the taste of the locals.  The members of the Sacramento Breakfast Club highly recommend Flapjack's for an outstanding breakfast.
