Are you looking for a restaurant in Montrose, Colorado that serves an amazing breakfast?  A breakfast with a Mexican twist?  Do you enjoy friendly service, along with large portions?  If that's what you like, be sure to enjoy breakfast at The Cabin Restaurant, in Montrose, Colorado.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's just a little after 10 on Monday morning, September 17, 2018, and I've arrived at The Cabin Restaurant to enjoy breakfast.  Yes, I know I'm late for breakfast, but it took me over four hours to drive from Gunnison to Montrose, due to stopping to take photos of the breath-taking scenery between the two towns.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you're greeted with a friendly "welcome" board that lists all of the daily specials. Note coffee is included with all advertised specials, which is a great deal.

Photo:  The main dining room of The Cabin Restaurant,  as you enter the dining room, just past the "welcome" board.  I sat at the high table to the extreme left of the photo.  Look in the center of the photo and you can see the small window to the kitchen, with a kitchen staff member in action, where the wait staff picks up the meals after the kitchen rings an "old school" bell.

Photo:  Another view of the dining room.  Photo doesn't show everything, but the restaurant was quite busy on this late Monday morning.

Photo:  The breakfast menu lists everything a "foodie," and a breakfast lover like me could desire for breakfast. Where are the omlettes and pancakes?  They're on the other side of the menu.  My heart really yearned for steak and eggs, but my stomach went for "Loaded Biscuits and Gravy."  I just couldn't resist...

Photo:  The Cabin Restaurant is definitely "old school," as when the kitchen has cooked your meal, it's placed on a shelf and a bell is "dinged" announcing to the wait staff the order is ready.

Photo:  My super friendly server, Anna, reaches to the kitchen window, complete with glove - your meal arrives HOT from the kitchen - to pick up my breakfast.

Note the exotic clock on the wall, just to the left of Anna, which has all numbers replaced by restaurant symbols. All cabin staff wear "Cabin" tee shirts...

Photo:  Meet my friendly server Anna, who took great care of me, provided lots of conversation, and delivered my breakfast to me with a smile.

Photo:  Thanks, Anna, for taking my photo, as I relax and smile as I'm ready to enjoy my breakfast of "Loaded Biscuits and Gravy" on this late Monday morning.

Photo:  My breakfast of "Loaded Biscuits and Gravy."  I have to admit, as I've never enjoyed a breakfast such as this before.  I suppose that's normal, as today was the first day in my life that I've ever enjoyed breakfast in Montrose.

The menu describes the choice as, "2 biscuits, green chili hash browns, 2 eggs layered and smothered with sausage gravy and turkey green chili sauce."  Hmmmm... how could I resist a menu choice like this?

So... you get two large, in-house-baked biscuits smothered with sausage gravy.  Two eggs, cooked to order - over easy is my de facto choice - are placed on top of the biscuits and gravy, and then are smothered in the turkey green chili sauce.  If that wasn't "over the top," hold on... as grated cheese - not posted on the menu - was added on top, melted and made this meal a mountain of breakfast heaven!  Oh yeah!!!

As an added note... If you think the photo looks delicious, you should enjoy the breakfast!  It's simply mind-boggling amazing...

My breakfast of "Loaded Biscuits and Gravy" was both delicious and unique, as I've never eaten anything like this before.  I loved everything about The Cabin Restaurant, but my only regret is that I found out after-the-fact that they serve menudo on weekends.  Had I known, I would have asked if they had any left over from the weekend, and enjoyed a breakfast of menudo on this Monday morning.  Oh well, at least I was able to stuff myself on my delicious breakfast of "Loaded Biscuits and Gravy!"
